THE STATE OR FACT OF BEING RESPONSIBLE, ANSWERABLE, OR ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOMETHING WITHIN ONE’S POWER, CONTROL, OR MANAGEMENT
Responsibility is all about accepting we are held accountable – our actions have consequences for good or for bad. Being responsible has four elements:
- Responsible for our thoughts – we live with our thoughts for they are the hidden us. They are not always kind and so being mindful is to be aware and in control.
- Responsible for our words – speaking is presenting to others what we feel sometimes more than what we believe. “Have a heart that never hardens” – Charles Dickens.
- Responsible for our actions – how we act is our social display of manners (or etiquette).
- Responsible for our deeds – deeds are different to actions because they are focused on helping others so are service-based.
